1. What the site is

FishableWaters aggregates public records — fish stocking reports, waterbody data, and related information published by state and federal agencies — and adds community features on top. We present agency data faithfully and cite the source on every record, but we do not control it and cannot guarantee it is complete, current, or correct. Agencies revise their reports; conditions change; hatchery trucks break down. We pull each state's stocking report on a daily schedule and do our best to keep every one current, but the states change their reports over time and some updates may be delayed or missed.

Nothing on this site is a statement of fishing regulations. Seasons, limits, and license requirements are set by state agencies. Always consult the official regulations we link to before fishing.

2. Your account

You must be 13 or older to create an account. Keep your password to yourself; what happens under your account is your responsibility. Give us accurate information and one account per person. We collect and handle personal information as described in the privacy policy.

3. Your conduct

By using the site you agree that you will not:

• post content that is unlawful, threatening, harassing, hateful, obscene, or knowingly false;
• post spam, advertising, or solicitations;
• impersonate any person, agency, or organization;
• post another person's private information, including someone else's fishing spots;
• upload malware or attempt to breach, probe, or overload the service;
• scrape or bulk-harvest the site at volumes that degrade it, or republish our database as your own;
• misrepresent our data as an official agency publication;
• use the site to violate any law, including fishing regulations and trespass law.

4. Content you post

Content you submit publicly (reports, photos, comments) stays yours. By posting it you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it on the service, so the site can actually show it. You promise you have the right to post what you post.

We review submissions and may reject, edit for formatting, or remove any content at any time, for any reason, without notice. Content marked private in your account (your logbook) is not published to other users.

5. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or permanently ban any account, and remove any content, at our sole discretion — including for breaking these terms, degrading the experience for others, or conduct we reasonably consider harmful to the service or its users. You may delete your account at any time from settings.

6. Assumption of risk

Fishing, wading, boating, and travel to and around water carry inherent hazards, including serious injury and death. Water conditions change without warning. You use this site, and the waters it describes, at your own risk. Coordinates mark waterbodies, not legal access points — you are responsible for knowing land ownership and obtaining permission before entering private property.

7. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, FishableWaters and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $20 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from content you post or your violation of these terms.

8. Copyright

If you believe content on the site infringes your copyright, send a DMCA notice to our designated agent at [email protected] with the material identified, your contact information, and a good-faith statement. We respond to valid notices and terminate repeat infringers.

9. Changes and the rest

We may update these terms; material changes will be flagged on the site, and continued use after changes is acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which we operate. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stands. These terms plus the privacy policy are the whole agreement.
